28th May 2010 was an public holiday for the Wesak Day celebration which commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha. This year's Wesak theme was "Promoting Harmony Through Right Understanding". Coincidentally, it was also my birthday!
We visited the Buddhist Association Hall in Subang Jaya for a morning of prayers and to receive the blessing from the priests, as we have done every year. After waiting in the queue, we were ushered into the Hall to be seated before the blessing ceremony.

Blessing by priestIt was a different experience this year as there were two big screens on each side of the Buddha statue in the Hall. It was very distracting as the screens were showing the scenes outside the Hall during the arrival of the VIP's like YB Hannah Yeoh etc. We did not have time for meditation and quiet prayers with the music and noise outside the hall.
Big screens in the hallAfter coming out of the Hall, we visited the stalls and booths set up. We also bought and lighted up the oil lamp for prayers and blessing.
