The second round matches of 2009 season were played this Sunday. In the Majors, Citrine outplayed Amber by winning five to one goals. The second match was between Turquoise and Emerald which was evenly matched. Turquoise managed to score the solitary goal to beat Emerald.
Turquoise Vs EmeraldIn the Majors Division, Sapphire managed to beat Garnet by scoring twice in the last quarter to finish with two to one goals win. In the second match, Jade beat Opal two goals to nil.
It was another week of goals galore in the Premier Division. Diamond beat Topaz eight to one goals while Ruby beat Amethyst by six to one goals. Amethyst would have done better if their best player turned up for their last matches. Absenteeism and lack of players is affecting the matches for the Premiers. Next week the top two teams, Diamond and Ruby would be facing each other to battle for the top of the table position.
Priya (Amethyst No.4) playing against RubyOur good friends Glenn, Carol and daughter Sarah dropped by to watch the matches. Glenn's family has been involved in the girls' league since 2004 as our pioneer Organising Committee members with their daughter, Sarah taking part in the league for the past four years. Sadly, they would be returning to USA this year. We presented Glenn and Carol with our Volunteer's T shirts as a token of our heartfelt appreciation and thanks for all their support and help. Good luck and thank you for the memories.
